The short version
Poland is the most active work-permit destination we handle, mainly for skilled and semi-skilled roles in manufacturing, logistics, construction and hospitality. The process has two halves: the employer in Poland obtains a work permit (or a declaration of entrustment for shorter roles) from the regional office, and the worker then applies for a national D-type visa at the Polish embassy in New Delhi or the consulate in Mumbai, with an appointment that must be booked and can take time. The visa allows entry; residence and work continue under the permit once in Poland. Recruitment fees, contracts and accommodation terms should be in writing before anything is filed.
Who needs a visa
Indian citizens need a work permit issued to a Polish employer and then a national (type D) visa to take up employment in Poland. Short visits for tourism or business use a Schengen visa instead. The permit is the employer’s application; the visa is yours.

Document checklist

Passport and photographs
- Passport valid for at least six months beyond the intended stay, with two blank pages
- Previous passports, if any
- Recent photographs to the mission’s specification (size and background differ by country)
From the employer
- Work permit (type A) or the registered declaration of entrustment
- Signed employment contract stating role, salary and hours
- Accommodation arrangement letter, where the employer provides housing
From the applicant
- National visa application form, completed online and printed
- Educational certificates and experience letters matching the role
- Travel medical insurance valid in Poland for the initial period
- Police clearance certificate where requested
Proof of funds
- Personal bank statements for the last six months, stamped by the bank
- Income tax returns for the last three years
- Salary slips (employed) or business registration and GST returns (self-employed)
- Fixed deposits, property or other assets where relevant
The process
Step 1: Eligibility and offer
We assess your profile against the roles our partner employers are hiring for, and review the contract terms with you before you sign anything.
Step 2: Employer’s permit
The employer files for the work permit or declaration in Poland; we track it and confirm when the original documents are issued.
Step 3: Visa appointment
The national visa application is completed and an appointment booked at the embassy or consulate.
Step 4: Submission
You attend in person with the originals; biometrics are taken.
Step 5: Decision and travel
On approval the passport is returned with the D visa; we brief you on arrival, registration and the residence card process.

No. It is tied to the employer and role named on the permit. After entry, a residence-and-work permit issued in Poland lets you stay longer; moving to another EU country means that country’s own procedure.
Family members can apply for reunification once you hold a residence permit and can show accommodation and income; it is a later step, not part of the first visa. We tell you what the thresholds are before you plan around it.
