What to know before you go
Thailand is where most Vadodara families take their first international trip, and for good reasons: a direct flight from Ahmedabad to Bangkok, Indian passport holders currently enter visa-free, vegetarian food is easy to find, and the hotels are better value than anywhere else at this distance.
The classic route is Bangkok for the Grand Palace, the Chao Phraya and the markets; Pattaya for Coral Island and the shows; then a flight south to Phuket for Phi Phi, James Bond island and the beaches. Couples skip Pattaya and add Krabi. Families with young children stay longer in Phuket and go slower.
Coral Island speedboats, the Alcazar show, Phi Phi day trips and the Safari World tickets are all pre-booked. Thai baht is best changed in Vadodara before you go; we tell you how much. Visa-free entry rules change; we confirm the current position when you book.
